1月26日にサンフランシスコ総領事公邸にて開かれた夕食会にCAJLTを代表として参加しました。私の他に、NCJTAを代表して南雅彦先生、サクラメント地域から木内厚子先生、サンフランシスコ地域から森川知計先生も参加されました。大槻総領事は、昨年秋に着任されました。この会では、美味しいお料理をいただきながら、現在の各教師会と地域での活動と課題を把握し、これまでサンフランシスコ総領事館が取り組んで来られた日本語教育への支援活動を今度はどのような形で続けて行くことが望ましいのかについて話し合いました。CAJLTとしては、今後の日本語教育を担っていく方が増えるような活動の必要性と領事館から提供されている資料と活動の情報を会員に届けていくことを確認しました。そして、総領事館には、今後は日本語教育支援だけではなく、外国語教育の重要性を訴え、他国の領事館とも連携して州政府に働きかけをしていただきたいとお願いしました。 CAJLT会長 小林公美
